- Independent and professional removal of tire side cuts

Often car tires
do not take care of their resources not because they wear out, but as a result
of side tears. The ability to eliminate such cuts depends on their size. They
are eliminated both by professionals and on their own.
Cut rate
An important
condition for tire repair is the size and nature of the cut. In some cases,
defects cannot be eliminated. There are standards on the basis of which a
decision is made to carry out repairs. They consist of the following:
1.If the depth of
cut is not through, then such a defect can be easily eliminated both in the
workshop and on its own.
2. The
longitudinal view of the section is liquidated only if its size does not exceed
35 mm.
3. The cross
section is limited to 25 mm.
4. With a
cross-section, the distance from its end point to the edge of the tire should
not be less than 40 mm.
In the event of a
tire defect in the truck, these standards do not apply. Such machines carry
large loads and the wheels experience significant pressure. Delivered patch may
not stand. There is a norm that provides for the possibility of repairing tires
of a freight transport only if no more than 10 rubber fibers are broken.
Self-repair of a
defect
Before carrying
out repairs with your own hands, you must carefully examine the rubber.
Determine the feasibility of removing the cut. The complexity of this defect
lies in the fact that the thickness of the rubber layer on the side surface of
the tire is small and easily deformed.
If there is a
real possibility of repair, then it provides the following sequence of actions:
1. Processing of
the disturbed surface area is carried out. All sharp edges are removed. The
place is given an oval shape.
2. Neatly moist
crude rubber pre-soaked in gasoline is carefully applied.
3. A piece of
paper is put. It is necessary so that the tool does not stick to the rubber.
4. The process of
vulcanization.
5. The surface is
degreased and a strong patch is glued on top.
After the work is
completed, a balancing procedure is carried out.
The ongoing work
at home is complicated by the need for hot vulcanization. This is due to the
availability of expensive equipment. Typically, a building hair dryer is used
as the main tool in a garage. However, this is not an optimal solution.
Professional work
The cost of such
repairs in the workshop is a decent amount. Therefore, before contacting you
need to decide on the feasibility of eliminating the defect. It is sometimes
more economical to replace a tire with a new product.
The technology
for repairing tires in workshops is the same everywhere. It consists of the
stages:
1. The tire is
inspected. All protruding and sharp edges are trimmed.
2. The most
difficult places are processed by a grinding machine.
3. The inner
surface is covered with special cement.
4. Raw rubber is
cut into strips and laid on the inside of the cut.
5. The process of
vulcanization.
6. At the second
stage, surface treatment is again carried out to install the main patch. It is
degreased and covered with the same cement mortar.
7. The patch is
glued. Then this place is treated with sealant.
At the last
stage, balancing is carried out.
The repaired
wheel is installed exclusively on the rear axle shaft. No matter how
high-quality repairs were carried out, under load, the tire may burst. If the
wheel is mounted in front, there is a risk of an accident.
